Hi friends, family,
Thanks for all your messages. We're planning to sleep back at home tonight. It's been great to just crash this week at Trev and Jo's.
Turns out Monday's quake was upgraded to a 6.3, centered only 5km deep about 1km from our house. It was actually worse than Feb 22 for Sumner.
For our place it was bad, but probably not AS bad as last time in terms of damage, simply because we haven't fixed anything properly yet and had only half the stuff that we had last time. The kitchen was damaged again, all the appliances were everywhere and there are new cracks and the old cracks are wider.
We had a lot of kind friends come on Tuesday and we got all the books and stuff picked up and again cleaned the kitchen up with a shovel! We are very skilled now if anyone needs to hire a cleanup crew.
Power and water were restored on Wednesday. On Thursday Alu and I went over and checked everything was working and did the vacuuming, so we're all set.
Clifton Hill's main access is cut off due to slips so we have to get there via Summit Rd and come down through a farm. They're clearing the road. There is unbelievable devastation in Sumner with whole houses falling off cliffs etc. You have to actually see it to take it in. By comparison to those people and to a lot of people in Eastern suburbs, we are well off.
Here are some snaps below. Here are some others from The Press here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/5138783/Aerial-photos-of-Christchurch/
